According to Christian legend, Saint Barbara has long been associated with the international mining industry as the Patron Saint who looks after workers' safety. This association is held in high esteem in many countries, for example in many South American countries you will find a shrine to St Barbara as you travel underground. In Australia St. Barbara's day is celebrated in the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie.
Saint Barbara was adopted as our company name because of the underlying philosophy of integrity and safety which underpins our work in the mining industry.
St. Barbara’s feast day is the 4th December and is celebrated in many mining communities worldwide.
